Normally the doctor uses a cotton swab in order to get the samples from the vagina and cervix. In order to confirm the disease and find the degree of the inflammation, some other tests are also done. Ultrasound of the vagina and reproductive system is done in most of the cases of PID. The doctor might opt for the endometrial biopsy in order to examine a piece of the uterine lining.
